About UIO
Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) is the main airport serving Quito, Ecuador's capital city. Opened in February 2013, the modern airport replaced the old Mariscal Sucre airport in the city center and is located in the Tababela valley, about 35 km east of Quito. At 2,400 meters elevation, it is one of the highest commercial airports in the world. The single-terminal facility was designed to handle 5 million passengers annually with expansion potential. UIO serves as a hub for Ecuatoriana Airlines and a focus city for LATAM Ecuador and Avianca.
