Umeda and Shin-Osaka are the main business districts in north Osaka. Shin-Osaka is the Shinkansen hub.

About Osaka Umeda/Shin-Osaka

Osaka's Umeda district is the city's northern commercial hub, centered around JR Osaka Station and the interconnected Hankyu and Hanshin department stores. The area features the spectacular Umeda Sky Building with its rooftop Floating Garden Observatory, the underground shopping labyrinths of Whity Umeda and Diamor, and the vibrant Kitashinchi dining quarter.

Shin-Osaka Station, located one stop north of Umeda on the Midosuji subway line, is Osaka's Shinkansen (bullet train) hub connecting to Tokyo, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, and other major cities. The station area has developed significantly with hotels, restaurants, and the Shin-Osaka Station City shopping complex.

Together, these two stations form Osaka's primary transportation axis. Umeda serves as the gateway to Osaka's northern attractions, while Shin-Osaka connects travelers to the national high-speed rail network, making the pair essential transit points for exploring the Kansai region.
