Lima's most popular tourist district with oceanfront parks, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife along the Malecon boardwalk.

About Miraflores

Miraflores is Lima's most polished and visitor-friendly district, perched on cliffs above the Pacific Ocean with sweeping coastal views. The Malecón, a clifftop park and walkway stretching several kilometers, is popular for jogging, paragliding, and sunset watching. Parque Kennedy at the district's center is famous for its resident cats and weekend artisan markets.

The district is home to Lima's densest concentration of upscale restaurants, with the renowned Central (frequently ranked among the world's best), Maido (Nikkei cuisine), and dozens of cevicherías that showcase Peru's extraordinary culinary heritage. Larcomar, a shopping center built into the cliffside, offers ocean-view dining and entertainment.

Miraflores also contains the Huaca Pucllana, an illuminated pre-Inca adobe pyramid dating to 400 AD that hosts a fine-dining restaurant overlooking the archaeological site. The district's tree-lined streets, parks, and proximity to the neighboring bohemian Barranco district make it the most walkable and safest area in Lima for international visitors.

Good to Know

Late Night Transport

Taxis and ride-hailing (Uber, DiDi, inDrive are all popular in Lima) operate 24 hours. The Airport Express Lima bus runs until about 11:00 PM. Late-night airport taxis cost $15-25 to Miraflores. Licensed airport taxis from the Green Taxi and CMV counters in arrivals are recommended over street hailing for safety. Miraflores itself is well-lit and relatively safe at night along main streets.

Luggage Tips

Licensed airport taxis and ride-shares handle luggage easily. The Airport Express Lima bus has luggage storage underneath. When exploring Miraflores, hotel luggage storage is standard. The Malecón coastal path is paved but has limited storage options. If visiting Huaca Pucllana or Parque Kennedy, travel light. Rolling suitcases work well on Miraflores' generally well-maintained sidewalks.

Accessibility

Miraflores is one of Lima's most accessible districts with well-maintained sidewalks, curb cuts, and relatively flat terrain (except the cliff edges). The Malecón walkway is wheelchair accessible along most of its length. Larcomar mall has elevator access to all levels. The Airport Express Lima bus is not wheelchair accessible. Licensed airport taxis are the best option for mobility-impaired travelers.
