Famous resort city known for the Cannes Film Festival, La Croisette promenade, and beautiful beaches.

About Cannes

Cannes is a glamorous Mediterranean resort city best known for hosting the annual Cannes Film Festival each May, when the world's film industry descends on the Palais des Festivals with its iconic red-carpeted steps. But beyond the festival, Cannes offers year-round appeal with its elegant seafront boulevard, La Croisette, lined with luxury hotels, designer shops, and sandy beaches.

The old quarter of Le Suquet rises above the old port on a hill crowned by the 12th-century church of Notre-Dame d'Espérance and the Musée de la Castre, housed in a medieval castle. From here, the views over the bay and the Lérins Islands are spectacular. The narrow streets of Le Suquet are filled with restaurants and have a charming Provençal village atmosphere.

Just offshore, the Île Sainte-Marguerite (a 15-minute ferry ride) offers pine forests, coastal paths, and the fortress where the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned. Cannes also serves as a gateway to the perfume town of Grasse, the medieval villages of the arrière-pays, and the red rocks of the Estérel massif.
