Busan's most famous beach with luxury hotels, seafood restaurants, and vibrant nightlife.

About Haeundae Beach

Haeundae Beach is Busan's most iconic stretch of coastline — a 1.5-kilometer crescent of golden sand backed by a wall of high-rise hotels and apartments that has become the symbol of Korean beach culture. In summer, the beach draws millions of visitors for swimming, sun-bathing, and the famous Haeundae Sand Festival. The adjacent Dongbaek Island coastal walk offers dramatic sea cliff views and the APEC House where world leaders convened in 2005.

The Haeundae district has evolved into Busan's most upscale neighborhood, with the Marine City development of luxury towers, the Haeundae Traditional Market (excellent for Korean street food), and a sophisticated dining and nightlife scene along Gunam-ro and the beachfront. The new Busan X the Sky observation deck atop the LCT Landmark Tower is the city's tallest building at 411 meters.

Beyond the beach, Haeundae offers cultural experiences including the Busan Aquarium (built under the beach), the Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (a rare seaside Buddhist temple clinging to a cliff east of Haeundae), and the stunning Igidae Coastal Walk connecting to the neighboring beaches. The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) holds its main screenings at the Busan Cinema Center in nearby Centum City.
