Sentosa is Singapores resort island, home to Universal Studios, beaches, and attractions. Plan your journey as it requires multiple transport modes.

About Sentosa Island

Sentosa Island is a 500-hectare resort island located just off Singapore's southern coast, connected to the mainland by a short causeway. Originally a British military fortress, it was redeveloped into a leisure destination and now attracts over 19 million visitors annually. The island's main attractions include Universal Studios Singapore, S.E.A. Aquarium (one of the world's largest), Adventure Cove Waterpark, and Madame Tussauds.

The island features three beaches — Siloso, Palawan, and Tanjong — each with a distinct character. Resorts World Sentosa anchors the northern end with its theme parks, casino, and luxury hotels including the W Singapore, Hard Rock Hotel, and Equarius Hotel. The southern coast offers a more tranquil setting with Sentosa Golf Club and the exclusive Sentosa Cove residential area. Fort Siloso, a preserved WWII coastal fort, provides a historical counterpoint to the island's entertainment focus.

Good to Know

Late Night Transport

The Sentosa Express monorail runs until midnight. After MRT service ends (~11:30 PM), you can still reach HarbourFront by taxi from the airport and then take the monorail. From Sentosa to the airport late at night, Grab and taxis are available from all major resorts. The Sentosa Boardwalk (a pedestrian bridge from VivoCity) is open 24 hours for walking back to the mainland.

Luggage Tips

If heading to a Sentosa resort directly from the airport, a taxi or Grab (SGD 30–40) is the most practical option to avoid handling luggage on multiple trains and the monorail. If using public transport, you can store luggage at Changi Airport (from SGD 4/day) or at VivoCity's lockers near HarbourFront station before heading to Sentosa.

Accessibility

The Sentosa Express monorail is wheelchair accessible with elevators at all three stations. Sentosa's main attractions, including Universal Studios and S.E.A. Aquarium, are fully wheelchair accessible. Beach wheelchairs are available for loan at the Siloso Beach ranger station. The Sentosa Boardwalk has a gentle incline suitable for wheelchairs.
