Soller is a picturesque mountain town in the Serra de Tramuntana, about 30 km north of Palma.
About Soller
The town's Plaça de la Constitució is a delightful central square framed by the imposing Sant Bartomeu church (with a Modernist facade designed by a disciple of Gaudí), traditional cafes, and the 1903 Banco de Sóller building. From here, the vintage Tram de Sóller clatters through the streets and orange groves on a scenic 5 km ride down to the Port de Sóller, a horseshoe-shaped harbor with a sandy beach, waterfront restaurants, and a lighthouse walk.
The historic Tren de Sóller railway from Palma, operating since 1912 with original wooden carriages, is one of Mallorca's most beloved experiences. The train climbs through the mountains with spectacular views and a dramatic tunnel passage. The surrounding trails through the Tramuntana mountains offer world-class hiking, including the famous GR 221 long-distance route.
